Canterbury Dance Festival
Canterbury Dance Festival 2021
Saturday 24th - Saturday 31st July
*The entry fee and programme will be CASH ONLY - food from the Gulbenkian cafe is contactless*
We are really sorry that this year’s Canterbury Dance Festival is not open to the general public for spectators this year due to Covid social distancing rules enforced by the Gulbenkian Theatre for the safety and protection of the competitors and staff.
There will be only one parent/guardian allowed into the auditorium to watch each section that their child is competing in and not other sections during the day of other age groups. This will be strictly monitored by my staff. If people do not respect the rules they will be asked to leave.
(All teachers and festival organisers have been sent all the restrictions set in place and they should have passed these on to you.)
I want to give a platform for the children to perform again on stage after so long and this is the only way to do it under the strict regulations on venues at the moment, even though the Government will lift the laws from the 19th July.
As the infection rate has gone up again in our area the Gulbenkian Theatre has also stated that they would prefer everyone to wear masks.
Thank you for working with me on this and although it will be run like a strict military operation - our pupils and children will be able to perform on stage again as one of the first Festivals to open it’s doors.
Next year's dates will be advised in September and we look forward to opening the doors to all our regular spectators - friends and families once again.
How to Enter 2021
ALL ENGLAND QUALIFYING FESTIVAL
Saturday 24th July - Saturday 31st July 2021
ENTRIES NOW CLOSED - OUR 8 DAY LIMIT HAS BEEN REACHED
Once entries reach our limit for the 8 days – the online booking system will be closed.
NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN BY POST
There must only be one entry per school, no private entries (unless they are the only entry from their school).
3 days after the entries have closed you will be sent an INVOICE – this must be paid by BACS within 5 days of receipt of this. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of entry into the festival.
Please note that all sections are now in line with the ALL ENGLAND DANCE COMPETITION.
*Please note that for 2021, there will be no groups at the festival*
We ask you to complete your entries promptly as they will be registered on a first come first served basis, and no late entries will be accepted now due to the BOPA licences that have to be provided from the Child in Employment Services with logged performances of dances in advance of the event.
The BOPA child licence information will be sent to all Teachers and Festival organisers that have entered their pupils after the closing date. Each competitor has to be registered with the Council that the Festival is held, giving full information of the child, dances performing and the chaperone or parent that is bringing them – for Canterbury Dance Festival it is the KCC.
YOU MUST only provide music on CD format, please make sure you use only CD-R format only as the machine does not recognise RW (rewritable) CD’s or ( + R ) CD’s. Some CDs do not read on high quality theatre CD machines - so please have a copy of your music on a different brand of CD to the one you hand in for a back- up.
I forward to seeing you all again in the summer
